FEARLESS goes to Wellfleet
FEARLESS spent a week on Cape Cod for a new oral history project we’re producing with Dr Robert Jay Lifton and Bailey Georges. Dr. Lifton is an author whose subject has been holocaust survivors, mass violence, and renewal in the 20th and 21st centuries. From 1966 to 2015 at his home in Wellfleet, MA, Dr Lifton, in collaboration with Erik Erikson, convened prominent psychologists and cultural thinkers to discuss psychology and history, combining scholarship and activism. Attendees came from many backgrounds and disciplines and included Daniel Ellsberg, Jonathan Schell, Dan Berrigan, Noam Chomsky, Jane Fonda, Richard Falk, Bruce Mazlish, Norman Birnbaum, Judy Herman, Bessel Van der Kolk, Margaret Brenman-Gibson, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Peter Brooks, Robert Coles, Charles Strozier, Philip Rieff, Norman Mailer, Howard Zinn, Peter Gay, Ashis Nandy, Richard Goodwin, Harvey Cox, Leo Marx, Raoul Hilberg, Sudhir Kakar, Wendy Doniger, and many others. We’re thrilled to be part of this project that includes so many of our heroes who have shaped our thinking about the most critical social/political issues of our time.
